We are bringing people closer to growing trees for wood, by following the full life story of one oak tree.We aim to increase understanding of sustainable woodland management by working directly with school children and the public, via this website, at a series of national exhibitions and through local and national media. Activities to dateA mature oak tree was chosen for the project that had grown in a plantation on the Blenheim Palace estate in Oxfordshire. Its felling in January 2010 was witnessed by 250 children and 150 guests. The OneOak tree has become one of Britain's most studied trees. We now know that it was 222 years old when felled. It has also become the focus of some stunning tree art. |
