Supported by The Oxfordshire Woodland Project

Oxfordshire Woodland Project

The OWP provides free professional advice and assistance for new and existing woods in Oxfordshire.

David Rees, the OWP manager, has worked closely with SYLVA in the development of the myForest inventory and management planning functions of the myForest site.
Supported by The Silvanus Trust

The Silvanus Trust

The Silvanus Trust works in partnership with those concerned with woodland to:
  • influence policy concerning sustainable and viable woodlands.
  • provide information, support, advice, education and training for those with an interest in or working in wood and woodlands.
  • support South West wood industry businesses through several projects to promote a sustainable woodland economy.
  • undertake research and promote best practice in community projects, and for partners and businesses receiving our support.
The Silvanus Trust has provided valuable input into the myForest service and have organised promotion events in the South West. SYLVA looks forward to continuing to work with the Silvanus Trust as the SW’s regional partner.
Supported by Oxfordshire Nature Conservation Forum

Oxfordshire Nature Conservation Forum

ONCF is a partnership organisation that has been working across Oxfordshire for over 15 years. Much of ONCF’s strength lies in the breadth and depth of the partnership. There are over 40 member organisations, including the local Wildife Trust, RSPB, Natural England and FWAG as well as local authorities and community wildlife groups. ONCF’s aim is to encourage networking, communication and sharing of best practise. This way we can ensure that the increasingly scarce resources of time and money are used to greatest effect for conservation in Oxfordshire.

ONCF have published articles and provided valuable links to other Nature Conservation agencies with regard to the promotion of the myForest service.

National Associates

Supported by ConFor

Confederation of Forest Industries

The Confederation of Forest Industries (UK) Ltd (ConFor) has been established to help build the market for timber, timber products and forest services, create a supportive policy environment for the forest industries and to help our members become more competitive and successful.

Since myForest's inception ConFor have contributed to the development of myForest and have recently published an article promoting myForest in Forestry and Timber News, April 2010, Issue number 38.
Supported by BioRegional

Bioregional

BioRegional is an entrepreneurial charity which initiates and delivers practical solutions that help us to adopt a ‘one planet living’ life style, which encourages us to live within a fair share of the earth’s resources.

BioRegional and SYLVA have worked on a number of woodfuel assessment studies (Gatwick Diamond, Herefordshire and North London).

These woodfuel assessments have provided valuable findings that have fed into the initial research and development phases of the myForest project and demonstrated the value of a map-based platform for the establishing woodfuel networks.
Supported by the Forestry Commission

Forestry Commision South-East England

Is the government department responsible for forestry in England and is responsible for administering and involved in the awarding of a variety of grants for the forestry and timber sector.

They are responsible for managing the FC’s forests and through grants, licences and advice, work to support the management of all woodlands in the region.

For woodland owners and managers the FC offer advice and support through the England Woodland Grant Scheme. More widely, they work in partnership with a range of national, regional and local bodies to promote and secure the benefits which woodlands offer to the region. These include a place for recreation, a place to observe wildlife, a source of woodland products and a contribution to the landscape.

The FC South East has contributed to the myForest project with funding and valuable staff input. SYLVA’s work aims to support the goals of the FC South East’s regional strategy.
