The Sylva Foundation is a charitable trust and a company limited by guarantee. Our passions are supporting forestry science, promoting trees and their management to the public, and supporting the production and availability of home-grown timber.
We run a number of projects under our Science, Education and Forestry programmes.
The Sylva Foundation arose from work initiated through the think-tank Forestry Horizons, which was conceived by Sir Martin Wood and Dr Gabriel Hemery in 2006.
- advancing education for the public benefit in the theory and practice of sustainable forest management;
- the promotion and conduct of research for the public benefit about effective sustainable forest management and the dissemination of the useful results of such research;
- supporting the development and application of sustainable forest management for the public benefit.
Our Annual Review for 2009-10, our first year in operation, is available for download as a pdf. If you require a full resolution version it is available here (8.59MB).
Our formal trustee report and financial statement are available direct from the Charity Commission.
